Chromebook Initiative

Greetings from Tappan Zee High School!

I hope your freshmen have brought home news of a great start to the 2014-2015 school year.

I have more good news to add. Due to the successful pilot of the 1:1 Chromebook initiative last spring at SOMS, we are pleased to share that your freshmen will be able to continue this good work at the high school this year. In early October, we will be ready to distribute Chromebooks to each of our freshmen, and we are looking forward to supporting their learning this year through the use of this device.

As you know, on Wednesday, September 17 at 6:45, we are hosting Meet the Teacher Night and invite you to attend. In addition, we are offering a 9th Grade Parent Q&A related to this Chromebook Initiative preceding Meet the Teacher at 6:15. This is geared to open the conversation and help us establish a strong home-school connection right from the onset, as your child will be directly involved in this pilot.

Please find a copy of the Chromebook Initiative Handbook to help guide us together on this journey. We look forward to a great year, and we hope to see you on Wednesday, if not sooner. (Remember, today is the Zee Nite IX Block Party on the Tappan Zee Athletic Fields at 2:00—it’s a great time for kids of all ages!)
