Dear SOCSD Families,

We have received a few e-mails regarding the decision to add one more instructional day to Presidents’ weekend in February. Rather than respond to just a few about the legalities and logistics of days used, in order to help everyone, we have posted a modified calendar that provides an updated and clear schedule for vacation days and school attendance. While this is the current plan, winter may not be done with us.
 

As noted in the previous correspondence, the changes were made to preserve instructional time and not reduce the weeklong March spring break if required to make up additional days because of cancellations. We understand that families value their vacation time and have made plans, but we are also obligated by law to schedule school and abide by the regulations established by New York.
