ESL at Tappan Zee High School
The ESL Department at TZHS currently serves students from nine different countries and eight discreet linguistic backgrounds.  The goal of our ESL Department is to provide English Language Learners with the language skills they need to succeed in our District, our community, and our country.  Two years ago, the ESL Department  adopted a co-teach model of collaborative education to support ELL's in content area classes, such as World History, Living Environment, Active Physics, and English 11R.  This has had the interesting effect of turning our classroom into something of one room schoolhouse, with teaching aids from a variety of subjects posted around the room.
